play date

it's that time again.
when us childhood friends get all our children together
to try and have conversations about them
and gossip about what we've seen on facebook.
which usually turns into mass chaos
and our kids getting a sugar high.
but whatev!

these are the only photos  can legally post.
some little kiddies aren't very fond of clothes right now :)

i vote our next play date only includes the mommies
at a restuarant
with a glass of wine.
just sayin'

boys and dirt

i haven't figured out what it is about little boys
and their attraction to dirt...
but my son has it.
it's like a magnet, and he can find it wherever we go.
my parents were babysitting my nephews a couple saturdays ago
so we invited them over to break up the day a little.
parker and reid were having a blast splashing in the water table
and the baby pool just minding their own business,
until parker discovered this little patch of dirt
which reid quickly helped pour water on, to make into mud.
i don't think i'll ever understand it,
but i'm ok with that.
they make quite a team.

ice ice baby

we went 'cabin camping' two weekends ago
at johnson shut-ins with the extended fam
(sisters fam, parents, aunts uncles and grandpa)
i remember going there a lot as a kid growing up
and last year the dam gave out and millions of tons of water
rushed through the entire place washing it all out.
so they rebuilt the entire camp ground and added some cabins
which are awesome because they're brand spankin' new
only down fall was they don't have running water.
otherwise it's the way to go!
we couldn't have gotten better weather.
it was hot during the day so we could go down to the shut ins and it felt
pretty good to get in the freezing cold water
and cool enough at night to need a camp fire.
i discovered i'm not quite as agile climbing on all the rocks
as i was 15 yrs ago when we were there last.
it sucks getting old.
sadly enough, the ONLY pictures i have
to show for the ENTIRE weekend are these few i took
of parker playing with the ice in our cooler.
way to go me!
but seriously how adorable
are his little piggie toes in these sandals.
we decided this was kinda our trial run for our florida trip.
granted this was only a 2 hour drive,
but parker totally passed the test and did great.
i had to drive bc the roads are super curvy and i get super car sick.
so danny has decided he wants to drive the entire
way to florida so i have to be the one
getting snacks, drinks, toys and whatever else parker demands.
we'll see  :)

debate and update

it's been a while...
i've been debating with myself whether or not to quit the blogging.
it's just a lot of work.
thinking of stories and things to write,
editing or picking out pictures
finding time to do it.
do i sound like debbie downer or what?

since almost the first year of posts got wiped out
when i accidentally deleted them from my picasa account
ive just been annoyed.
and since i only really do it for my own personal memory
i just wonder
will i ever really look back and read this blog?
will parker even read it or care?

i debate whether to just make a commitment to upload all my pictures
from my camera to my computer REGULARLY
and get them printed off and into albums REGULARLY.
because i haven't printed a pic in over 6 months.
although that wont have all the funny and cute stories to go along with them
i thought i could start writing them down in a journal/book type thing.
but will i really do that either?
ugh.
i've haven't decided what i'm going to do so i'll just shut up and update!

quick recap of our last 2 wks:
--went to a surprise 30th bday party my bff threw for her hubby.
and it was actually a real surprise! so much fun in such a little time.
parker was with his cousins so we had to pick him up before bedtime.

--had mother's day at my cousin's boyfriend's dad's clubhouse.
could not have had better weather. it was gorgeous.
got to play more 'minute to win it' games!
erica sucks and won them all...again. i'm sure it's rigged.
danny got me (us) and ipad. i was totally shocked which is fun
bc we haven't gotten each other surprise gifts in years.

-- got a call from parker's neurologist saying all his bloodwork was completely normal!
yah! but then he suggested we go ahead with the MRI
bc there are countless things they could tell seeing images of his brain
that can't be diagnosed thru blood work.
d originally vetoed. we discussed with pj's pedi (who i now love even more)
we decided to go ahead and suck it up and do it, for parker's sake.
the longer we waited and older he got the more scared he'd be and the more he'd remember.
we didn't want to live in the 'what if's' for months/years to come.
we didn't want to pass along something to another child if we could help it.
the scan was scheduled for the next monday.

--went camping at johnson shut ins with a bunch of the fam.
parker loved playing in the shut-in's and being outside non stop.
realized camping is so much more work as a mother than as a child.

--took parker for his MRI and didn't even cry. go me.
he hated the nurses and wanted milk. then they gave him the happy meds
before we even left the room and he was giggling out of this world.
i asked if i could borrow some for our drive to FL in a month.
he was only out for about 45 min. and woke up as they were wheeling him
back into the room.
he wasn't a fan of waking up out of anesthesia.
the nurse said it felt like when you're drunk/hungover and dizzy
and can't get comfortable. poor thing. that's the worst feeling ever.
or so i've heard.
once his brain woke up he was mister chatter box.
instead of sleeping the entire drive home he talked, like a little old drunk man.
his eyes were half open and he took 'roll call' the whole time.
that's when he asks about every member in our family
and i have to tell them where they are all and what they're doing.
he was a little unsteady the rest of the day
but ate like a horse after his 3.5 hr nap and acted like nothing ever happened.
then at 11am only 2 hrs after we left his neuro called and reported that all was
completely NORMAL! ptl!
so we're done with all tests. ever. ever.
apparently he's just going to be the cutest,
most uncoordinated child there is.
and we're totally ok with that.

--getting ready to open my parents pool this weekend.
and go to a bunch of memorial day bbq's.

--and i'll leave you with the funniest pictures ever.
my sister and i drew mustaches on the boys
for a mother's day present for my mom.

p.s. i'm not re-reading this for typo's.
i'm such a slacker.

19 months

today is parker's 19 month birthday.
which means that he is closer to being a 2 year old
than he is to being a 1 year old.
i don't see how this is possible,
i guess because he still seems like such a baby to me.
maybe the fact that he is so small
and still crawls everywhere
and doesn't talk in english a whole lot
that i can't imagine in a few short months i'll being telling people
i have a 2 year old.

today is 2 wks since he's had his blood drawn.
the neuro told us he'd call if anything came back abnormal,
but if we didn't hear from him in 3 wks to give him a call.
i debate with myself everyday whether to call
or just wait it out.
i haven't called yet.
i did e-mail his pediatrician this morning though,
to see if anything that he ordered was back.
haven't gotten a reply yet.

my miniature 19 month old seems to be really growing a personality.
he's such a goofball and tries to make people laugh all the time.
he's getting so much better with stranger anxiety.
now it's more of a shyness when people say hi that he doesn't know,
but pretty quickly he warms up.
he waves and says HI to the checkout ladies at walmart every week.
HI has become his favorite word this week for some reason.
he says it in all different ways when we're riding in the car as he's staring out the window.
when we went camping with my parents a couple weeks ago,
he let me uncle and another camper friend
carry him all over the place with us not in sight.
this was a first.
and it was amazing!

he is still loving his little animals
and has been refusing to go to sleep until he's holding TWO puppies.
he stands in his crib and waits while i search the house for them
pointing and telling me, "PUP, PUP"
and quickly lays down and falls asleep once he's got 'em.

he's learned how to rip a toy out of my hand and yell "MINE"
:)
he's going to be the worst sharer ever. (if that's a word)
danny does this to him all the time:
he plays with a toy and waits to see how long
it takes parker to come over and take it from him.
no matter what he always wants what we are playing with.

he's finally tall enough to climb up on the couch by himself
to watch a little cartoons
and i can leave him there without fear of him falling off
bc he's pretty good at knowing to turn around on his belly to slide off.
(for the most part. our knew hardwood floors are quite slick)

he's in quite a wide range of clothes right now.
he wears 12 month shorts and t-shirts
but 18-24 month onesies and pajamas.
he wears all size 4 shoes even though they are still a little big
and he only wears them in public so he doesn't look like
a little orphan baby.
he hates the way sandals feel without socks on
so he rips them off as soon as we get in the car.
he's so going to be one of those kids that cries until this sock 'feels good.'
i can see it already.

he loves to be go on walks in his stroller
and to just be outside as much as possible.
he crawls on his hands and feet with his butt up in the air
since the concrete hurts his knees.
he loves his little pool and water table.
i can't wait to see how he does in my parents pool.
i laid him back in the bath the other night
with his ears under water, just to see what he'd do.
and he just laid there and stared at me like,'what are we doing, mom?'
he doesn't seem scared yet...which scares me :)

he has a slight obsession with lawn mowers.
anytime he hears one, he sprints to the windows to see if he can find it.
daddy is becoming his close buddy
and he cries when daddy leaves,
even if it's to just go outside and cut the grass.
he stares out the windows and waves every time he drives past.
last week we sat in the driveway so he could watch him mow
because i couldn't get him to calm down.
he was in heaven just sitting in his little lawn chair on the driveway.
but once we put him on the lawn mower to go for a ride
he didn't seem to thrilled.
he didn't cry, but just sat there with a very serious look on his face the whole time.

this past week he has started eating, for some odd reason.
the other day when i got home from grocery shopping
i was washing and cutting up all the fruit i bought
and he stood at my legs whining for a bite, so i gave him a piece.
and for some reason he stood there and
probably ate 8 pieces of strawberries! i was afraid he'd get a stomachache
if i gave him anymore.
and the other night d was feeding him dinner
and the only thing on his plate he would eat was the banana
so he kept cutting him up more.
the kid ate 3/4 of an entire banana!
let me remind you that i've given him banana at some meal every single day
for at least a month
and he wouldn't touch it.
whatever dude! i guess it's true that they'll eat when they're hungry?
unfortunately he's developed a bit of a sweet tooth.
the boy loves his little fudge striped cookies,
and ice cream cones,
and iced animal crackers.
even though i stress about him to eating all the healthy foods,
some days i feel like he needs any extra calories i can get him in!

he still thinks peek a boo is absolutely hilarious.
like poking your head out from around the couch.
or he loves when we pretend we're asleep
and then wake up real fast,
he just dies laughing and slams our head back into the pillow to pretend again.
he still has the most infectious laugh
that nobody can ignore.

so i guess that's my little man in a nut shell
at 19 months old.
there's always stuff i think of later that i wish i would
have written down (or typed out) that i know i'll want to remember.
but i've run out of time to sit and think.
so here's to the next 5 months going very, very slowly :)
